1 c. shortening
1½ c. sugar
2 eggs
2-3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
Mix the shortening, sugar, and eggs. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt. Stir the two mixtures together. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Dip in mixture of equal parts of cinnamon and sugar. Place two inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until lightly browned, but still soft (approximately 8-10 minutes) at 400ºF. Makes 3 dozen.
